…While the terms impartiality and objectivity “are becoming undermined and empty”, according to (a report published today by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism), the fact remains that the “problems they were designed to address are still with us”.
As a result there may be a need to either “reinvent” the terms “or find alternative norms to ground journalism and help it serve its public purpose”.
