Here are the threads (of what people want when they pick up their mobile phone):

  • Amuse me for short periods
  • Give me access to information I happen to need because of where I am and what I’m doing.
  • Find things near me — often things I will spend money on. This is monetizable, and Google’s huge share of mobile search gives them a big advantage.
  • Help me get things done efficiently in my available time.
